When you are purchasing a home, it’s important to understand the area you are going to be living in and ensure that it aligns with your neighbourhood desires. Different factors play a role in choosing a home, some include: amenities close by, trails and hiking spots, busy vs. quiet etc. While Port Alberni has a vast variety of enticing neighbourhoods from the up-in-coming Uptown city living to relaxing, more remote Sproat Lake life and everything in between; there’s just something about the Creeks that has buyers gravitating toward them.
Cherry Creek is located on the right hand side a few kms after you enter the town from the Alberni Hwy and onto Johnson Road. Take a right onto Cherry Creek Road just after you pass Walmart, No Frills and several other shopping stores. The main road stretches approximately 5kms into the rural area, backing Mount Horne. There are several side streets off Cherry Creek Road that take you to different charming, little neighbourhoods. While there are no amenities in terms of stores, every Saturday, year round, there is a Farmers Market at 6211 Cherry Creek Road (formally the old Cherry Creek Elementary School which has transitioned into a multi-congregation church and daycare.) A Community Centre and Fire Hall are also located about halfway down the main road, which often holds events, craft fairs and fireworks for holidays like Halloween. A major draw to those looking to buy in this forested haven is the Log Train Trail which has several different access points and can lead you right through to Beaver Creek and over to the Lookout Trail. Because there are a few different ‘start’ locations, the Log Train Trail is a hike that has multi-levels and distances you can take. Mid-point on the trail is the Motocross Track which draws in different spectator events and races throughout the Summer months. A portion of the Log Train Trail also takes you to a powerful waterfall view point at Cold Creek Falls. Cherry Creekers pride themselves in their fantastic 18 hole golf course, with a healthy membership base for juniors and adults. The course also has a driving range which poses a fun activity for a warm summer evening. If you are looking for a close-knit community, within our community, Cherry Creek is an excellent option for you!
Beaver Creek has been known as the road that just keeps going! Veering right just past the marina at the bottom of Johnson, Beaver Creek is approximately 22kms long and has several side streets leading to new developments and old neighbourhoods. The further you travel down Beaver Creek Road, the more lined it becomes with vast fields and farm land. It almost feels as if you are stepping into a very remote town at times as the houses can be few and far between at stretches. Much of Beaver Creek follows the east bank of the Stamp River which is a well-known fishing and hiking area. Along the river you will find Stamp Falls – a stunning waterfall with hiking systems and an ‘backcountry’ style campground. Beaver Creek offers a quiet, serene option for buyers who like to live a bit further from hustle and bustle of busy streets. Luckily, residents who live near the end of Beaver Creek have access to the famous, family owned Beaver Creek Market which offers a variety of food and essentials so those in the area don’t need to travel into town to get ingredients for dinner! Beaver Creek living can be described as a slower paced lifestyle, and houses often have long, winding driveways, giving you a very secluded and peaceful vibe.
